Why do you think Google jumped to purchase youtube? Now they essentially own another search engine, where they can expand their advertising. It was a great move by them, they are buying out the competition.

Though I haven’t tried this type of marketing strategy for any of my clients, I have been noticing this thing from last many months, I think it is the way of google to gain importance of youtube.com. Initially youtube.com was popular as video site but unfortunately was not in green,after acquiring it, Google.com tried different ways to make it profitable,and showing relevant videos of search terms on first page of SERP is one of them.

I was reading a report that said the top of most marketers budgets in 2009 is video marketing. It’s going to keep growing in popularity, especially in a recession when there may not be enough money to do traditional events like seminars etc …

This is one way of traffic generation to video sites. I have not tried any of such marketing strategy so far.

I would say both. That is why Youtube.com is constantly removing these types of videos. I would say you are minimally at risk since the video is hosted on Youtube.com.

As a business, if you upload a clip of an event – just say from TV – who is breaking copyright law here: the company, youtube or both?!

I’ve not really looked into this because – as already mentioned – these low budget productions look just that and I don’t see how it can add value to your companies image.

I’d like to hear others opinions on this and would certainly like to be corrected

Hello,

I would add that there are a number of ways to brand a YouTube profile that can be used in conjunction with your approaches and really maximize what you get from YouTube.

This is very helpful information. The only thing I also would add is about the importance of the thumbnail. YouTube picks 3 thumbnails for people to chose from. So when creating a vid, it’s good to have a compelling frame in one of those three locations. Here is little more more for anyone interested.

Showing youtube vids in the searches just keeps adding to the empire. Guess no real way around it if its relevant. Yahoo needs to do something, they send almost no traffic..i don’t even believe them or MSN even get searches.

thats normal, but both are on different markets. I mean, on youtube you only want to see videos. On yahoo you have one necessity to be solved by the search engine. The targets are quite differente and the kpi can´t go in the same line. Search per user is not a Succesfull kpi alwais…,
