Chris Alexander previously worked at various technology consulting firms. In late 2003 he decided to strike out with Shell and formed Big Oak. Their partnership has allowed them to work in collaboration while having the freedom to concentrate on their core interests in the field of online marketing. 
Shell Harris co-founded Big Oak on January 1, 2004. In a previous career he was a print & web designer and often developed the sites he designed before focusing on his current passion for search engine optimization and Internet marketing. He is an avid researcher, SEO specialist, company mouthpiece and is always looking for the next big thing. In his limited free time he can be found watching The Simpsons, reading comic books and collecting vintage posters. Hard to believe he wasn't the coolest guy in school. 
Alyssa Duvall joined our team in 2005 having previously worked with Chris and Shell. Her project management, marketing strategy, and copywriting skills helped the company transition toward SEO-focused engagements. Alyssa champions the marketing, user experience and website conversion aspects of SEO. 
Elizabeth Downing Johnson has been a part of the team since 2009. She provides SEO copywriting, as well content for Big Oak’s many web properties. She has a MA in English from Virginia Commonwealth University, and we are constantly trying to keep her from incessantly quoting J.D. Salinger and posting pictures of William Shatner. Other than that, she is a creative and energetic addition to the organization, willing to pitch in on special projects and bring her unique brand of humor to every situation. 
Karl Hindle has been a part of Big Oak since early 2009. Besides being an SEO Strategist, he is a published writer, editor and interviewer. Karl is from the UK and holds a business degree from Aston University and ‘fell’ into writing after selling his business back home. He has the office next door to Eric, who is teaching him “American” so Eric can understand him; Karl’s efforts to teach Eric “English” have so far failed utterly.
