Best Bully Sticks Case Study

Best Bully Sticks Dog

Best Bully Sticks started offering their superior line of dog treats in March of 2007, selling their signature bully sticks and little else.  In less than a year Best Bully Sticks began working with Big Oak, expanded their product line, and started working towards the results they desired.

Client Goals

Best Bully Sticks' goal was to increase their exposure online through increased search engine rankings, with the result being an increase in traffic to the Best Bully Sticks website.  When Best Bully Sticks first began working with Big Oak they were struggling to understand organic rankings and were lagging in the rankings behind their competition, not ranking for any of their most important terms, a status they wanted to change immediately.

Our Challenges

In the highly competitive arena of online pet supply sales, the biggest challenge faced by Big Oak in working with Best Bully Sticks was the relative youth of their site.  Where most of their competitors had been online for years selling their products, Best Bully Sticks was a relative new comer, with their site launching in March of 2007.  The newness of their site coupled with an inferior site design that wasn't user friendly, and a lack of products created a challenge for Big Oak.

Our Strategy

The first step for Best Bully Sticks was to have their website made more user friendly and SEO friendly.  With some direction from Big Oak, Best Bully Sticks successfully redesigned their website, including the addition of new products lines, including flavored dog treats, a wider range of chews, and, recently, dog food.  With the site done, Big Oak moved towards an all-encompassing approach of link building, press releases, and articles to help increase Best Bully Sticks' exposure on the internet and increase top rankings on the first page of the leading search engines.  This strategy, combined with the addition of a blog to the Best Bully Sticks website to help increase links and allow for more interaction with customers, has helped Best Bully Sticks to achieve the results they desired.

Results

Best Bully Sticks began work with Big Oak in September of 2007.  Within 4 months, the traffic to the site went from less than 400 visits a month to nearly 3000 a month (406 in August 2007 to 2800 in January 2008).

“We like the planned approach and attention to detail, and the results quite simply speak for themselves.  We consider them an integral part in our overall internet marketing strategy.”

The increase in traffic and the resulting increase in sales (an increase of five times the revenue in January of 2008 versus August of 2007), has allowed Best Bully Sticks to continue to add new products and services as they continue to gain position in the search engines.  "I can't stress enough how important SEO [with Big Oak] is to the overall success of our business on the internet!" Avrum Elmakis, president of Best Bully Sticks said.  "We like the planned approach and attention to detail, and the results quite simply speak for themselves.  We consider them an integral part in our overall internet marketing strategy."
